If you aren't a programmer, then this page will probably be a disappointment, unless you have already read the Pocket PhoneBook Home Page carefully. If you are a programmer, you will probably like what I've done... I've released the source code for Pocket PhoneBook and the Pocket PhoneBook Database Wizard under an Open Source License.

The main reason I've done this is that the project is not really finished. There are several known bugs, which I have not been able to fix, and I do not have any newer devices on which to test (testing on the emulator does not always find all the bugs). So, I have not released a version for everyone to simply download and install on their Windows CE devices. Instead, I hope that someone will download the source code, test it on real devices, fix any bugs they find, and then release it for everyone to use. If someone does this, hopefully they will let me know, and I will post the final release on this site, along with praise and credit (and a link) to the co-author.

The known bugs include:

• Horizontal scroll bar visible on Pocket PC (Windows CE 3.0)
• Random instability while searching (at least on Windows CE 2.0)
• Unable to launch application with a phonebook file specified on command line
